Soms hoef je helemaal niet ver te reizen om dat echte vakantiegevoel te krijgen. Twee nachtjes aan onze Belgische kust, wakker worden met het geluid van de zee en ontbijten terwijl je uitkijkt over het strand… Meer hadden wij niet nodig voor een heerlijk weekendje weg.
Wij verbleven twee nachten bij ZeezichtOostende.be, in het Piper appartement op de eerste verdieping. En ik kan eigenlijk meteen verklappen wat voor ons dé grote troef van dit appartement is: het fantastische frontale zeezicht.
Vanuit de woonkamer kijk je rechtstreeks uit over het strand en de Noordzee. Geen gebouwen die je uitzicht belemmeren, gewoon zee zover je kan kijken. Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat je in Oostende moeilijk een appartement kan vinden met een mooier uitzicht.
Verblijven in het Piper appartement
Piper is een ruim vakantieappartement in Residentie Zeezicht in Mariakerke, Oostende. Het appartement bevindt zich op de eerste verdieping en beschikt over twee slaapkamers, waardoor het ook ideaal is wanneer je met familie of vrienden naar zee wilt.
De woonkamer en keuken bevinden zich aan de kant van de Zeedijk en dankzij de grote ramen kan je voortdurend genieten van het prachtige uitzicht op het strand en de Noordzee.
Maar mijn favoriete plekje? Zonder twijfel het balkon met zicht op zee.
Je kan hier gezellig buiten zitten, iets drinken of samen eten terwijl je uitkijkt over het water. 's Morgens wakker worden, een koffietje maken en vervolgens met dit uitzicht aan je dag beginnen… Heerlijk!
Wij hebben tijdens ons verblijf dan ook bewust veel tijd in het appartement doorgebracht. Met zo'n uitzicht voelde het helemaal niet alsof we voortdurend op pad moesten zijn.
Ontbijten met zicht op zee
Voor een lekker ontbijtje hoef je trouwens helemaal niet ver te gaan. Vlak naast het appartement vind je Bakkerij Diemas. Ideaal om 's morgens verse koffiekoeken en andere lekkernijen te halen.
Wij namen ons ontbijt mee naar het appartement en genoten er gezellig van met zicht op zee. Geef mij een lekker ontbijtje, een koffietje en de Noordzee voor mijn neus en mijn ochtend kan eigenlijk al niet meer stuk.
Ook 's avonds vonden wij het heerlijk om lekker eten mee te nemen of te laten leveren op het appartement.Waarom iedere avond op restaurant gaan wanneer je thuis misschien wel één van de mooiste tafeltjes van Oostende hebt? Lekker eten, gezellig samen aan tafel en ondertussen uitkijken over de zee. Meer moet dat soms echt niet zijn.
Een verwarmd buitenzwembad
Verblijf je tijdens de warmere maanden bij Zeezicht Oostende? Dan is er nog een leuke extra: het verwarmde buitenzwembad achter het appartement.
Het zwembad bevindt zich op de afgesloten binnenplaats van Residentie Zeezicht en is enkel toegankelijk voor huurders en eigenaars van het complex.
Het verwarmde zwembad is geopend van 1 mei tot en met 15 september. Er is bovendien een apart kinderbadje.
Ideaal dus wanneer je tijdens de zomer naar Oostende komt. Je kan een duik nemen in het zwembad en even later gewoon op het strand liggen.
Geen parkeerstress dankzij de eigen garagebox
Wie regelmatig naar onze Belgische kust gaat, weet dat parkeren soms een uitdaging kan zijn. Daar hoef je bij Piper gelukkig niet over na te denken.
Bij het appartement hoort een eigen afgesloten garagebox in de ondergrondse parking. Je kan je auto dus veilig parkeren en hoeft tijdens je verblijf niet meer op zoek naar een parkeerplaats. Voor ons echt een grote meerwaarde.
Bovendien heb je je auto eigenlijk amper nodig, want heel wat leuke plekjes in Oostende zijn vanuit het appartement te voet bereikbaar.
Wat te doen in Oostende?
Hoewel er in Oostende natuurlijk ontzettend veel te beleven valt, hebben wij het tijdens dit weekend bewust rustig gehouden. Geen overvolle planning, maar vooral genieten van de zee, lekker eten en samen op pad gaan. En eerlijk? Soms zijn dat de leukste weekendjes.
Wandelen over de Zeedijk
Vanuit het appartement sta je onmiddellijk op de Zeedijk van Oostende. Je hoeft dus alleen maar de deur uit te stappen en je kan beginnen aan een heerlijke wandeling langs zee.
Wij wandelden vanuit het appartement richting het centrum van Oostende. Onderweg heb je voortdurend zicht op het strand en de Noordzee.
Even uitwaaien, genieten van de zeelucht en onderweg stoppen wanneer je daar zin in hebt… Het blijft voor mij één van de leukste dingen aan een weekendje aan onze kust.
Shoppen in het centrum van Oostende
Vanuit Zeezicht Oostende kan je ook richting het centrum wandelen. Hier vind je verschillende winkelstraten, terrasjes en plekjes om iets te eten of drinken.
Wij combineerden onze wandeling over de dijk met een bezoekje aan het centrum om wat te shoppen. Zo heb je meteen een leuke uitstap zonder dat je opnieuw de auto hoeft te nemen.
De Venetiaanse Gaanderijen
Tijdens onze wandeling brachten we ook een bezoekje aan de prachtige Venetiaanse Gaanderijen. De galerijen liggen aan de Zeedijk en behoren voor mij toch wel tot de mooiste en meest herkenbare plekjes van Oostende.
De architectuur in combinatie met de ligging aan zee maakt dit een leuke stop tijdens je wandeling. En uiteraard is het ook een heel mooie locatie om enkele foto's te maken!
Zeehonden spotten in Oostende 🦭
Een van de leukste momenten van ons weekend was zonder twijfel zeehonden spotten. Aan de kant van de haven komen regelmatig zeehonden uitrusten op het strand. Als je geluk hebt, kan je ze tijdens je wandeling dus gewoon zien liggen.
Zo bijzonder om deze dieren gewoon hier in België in het wild te kunnen bewonderen!
Hou natuurlijk voldoende afstand en laat de dieren rustig liggen. Zo kunnen zij ongestoord uitrusten en kan iedereen vanop afstand van dit bijzondere tafereel genieten.
Genieten van het appartement
En misschien was dit uiteindelijk wel mijn favoriete activiteit van het hele weekend: gewoon even helemaal niets moeten.
Wij hebben bewust veel tijd in het appartement doorgebracht.
's Morgens koffiekoeken halen bij de bakker, ontbijten met zicht op zee, daarna een lange wandeling maken en 's avonds lekker eten meenemen naar het appartement.
Met zo'n uitzicht heb je eigenlijk niet veel meer nodig.
Zeker wanneer het 's avonds wat rustiger wordt en je vanuit het appartement over de Noordzee kijkt, krijg je echt dat heerlijke vakantiegevoel.

Sometimes you really don’t have to travel far to get that true holiday feeling. Two nights at the Belgian coast, waking up to the sound of the sea and having breakfast while overlooking the beach… That was all we needed for a wonderful weekend getaway.
We stayed for two nights at ZeezichtOostende.be, in the Piper apartment on the first floor. And I can already reveal what, for us, is the absolute highlight of this apartment: the fantastic frontal sea view.
From the living room, you look directly out over the beach and the North Sea. No buildings blocking your view, just the sea stretching as far as you can see. I’m convinced that it’s hard to find an apartment in Ostend with a more beautiful view.
Staying in the Piper apartment
Piper is a spacious holiday apartment in Residence Zeezicht in Mariakerke, Ostend. The apartment is located on the first floor and has two bedrooms, making it an ideal place to stay when visiting the coast with family or friends.
The living room and kitchen are located on the seafront side of the building, and thanks to the large windows, you can enjoy the beautiful views of the beach and the North Sea throughout the day.
But my favourite spot? Without a doubt, the balcony overlooking the sea.
You can sit outside, enjoy a drink or have a meal together while looking out over the water. Waking up in the morning, making yourself a coffee and starting your day with this view… Wonderful!
We deliberately spent quite a lot of time in the apartment during our stay. With a view like this, we didn’t feel like we constantly needed to be out exploring.
Breakfast with a sea view
You don’t have to go far for a delicious breakfast either. Right next to the apartment, you’ll find Diemas Bakery. Perfect for picking up fresh pastries and other treats in the morning.
We took our breakfast back to the apartment and enjoyed it while looking out over the sea. Give me a delicious breakfast, a coffee and the North Sea right in front of me, and my morning is already off to a perfect start.
In the evenings, we also loved picking up some delicious food or having it delivered to the apartment. Why go to a restaurant every evening when you might have one of the most beautiful tables in Ostend right at home? Delicious food, a cosy dinner together and the sea right in front of you. Sometimes, that’s really all you need.
A heated outdoor swimming pool
Are you staying at Zeezicht Oostende during the warmer months? Then there’s another lovely bonus: the heated outdoor swimming pool behind the apartment.
The swimming pool is located in the enclosed courtyard of Residence Zeezicht and is exclusively accessible to residents and guests staying in the complex.
The heated swimming pool is open from May 1 until September 15. There is also a separate children’s pool.
Perfect if you’re visiting Ostend during the summer. You can take a dip in the pool and be relaxing on the beach just a little while later.
No parking stress thanks to your own private garage
Anyone who regularly visits the Belgian coast knows that parking can sometimes be a challenge. Luckily, that’s one thing you don’t have to worry about when staying at Piper.
The apartment comes with its own private, enclosed garage in the underground parking area. You can safely park your car and won’t have to worry about finding another parking space during your stay. For us, this was definitely a big plus.
And you hardly need your car anyway, as many of Ostend’s nicest spots are within walking distance of the apartment.
What to do in Ostend?
Although there are plenty of things to see and do in Ostend, we deliberately kept things relaxed during this weekend. No packed itinerary, just enjoying the sea, good food and spending time together. And honestly? Sometimes those are the best weekends.
Walking along the seafront
As soon as you step outside the apartment, you’re right on the Ostend seafront promenade. All you have to do is walk out the door and you can immediately start a lovely walk along the sea.
We walked from the apartment towards the centre of Ostend. Along the way, you have continuous views of the beach and the North Sea.
Getting some fresh air, enjoying the sea breeze and stopping whenever you feel like it… For me, it remains one of the best things about spending a weekend at the Belgian coast.
Shopping in the centre of Ostend
From Zeezicht Oostende, you can also easily walk towards the city centre. Here you’ll find several shopping streets, terraces and plenty of places to stop for something to eat or drink.
We combined our walk along the seafront with a visit to the city centre for a little shopping. It’s an easy and enjoyable outing without having to get back in the car.
The Venetian Galleries
During our walk, we also visited the beautiful Venetian Galleries. Located along the seafront promenade, they are definitely one of the most beautiful and recognisable places in Ostend for me.
The architecture combined with the seaside location makes this a lovely stop during your walk. And of course, it’s also a beautiful spot to take some photos!
Spotting seals in Ostend 🦭
One of the highlights of our weekend was without a doubt spotting seals. Near the harbour, seals regularly come ashore to rest on the beach. If you’re lucky, you might spot them during your walk.
It’s so special to be able to see these animals in the wild right here in Belgium!
Of course, make sure to keep a safe distance and let the seals rest peacefully. That way, they can relax undisturbed and everyone can enjoy this special sight from a distance.
Enjoying the apartment
And perhaps this ended up being my favourite activity of the entire weekend: simply having absolutely nothing we had to do.
We deliberately spent plenty of time in the apartment.
Picking up fresh pastries from the bakery in the morning, having breakfast with a sea view, going for a long walk afterwards and bringing some delicious food back to the apartment in the evening.
With a view like this, you really don’t need much more.
Especially in the evening, when everything gets a little quieter and you can look out over the North Sea from the apartment, you really get that wonderful holiday feeling.
So, if you’re looking for a beautiful holiday apartment in Ostend with a frontal sea view, ZeezichtOostende.be is definitely one to remember.
