Travel : Madrid Hotspots

Where to stay?

Where to eat?

- Amargo place to be is mijn absolute favoriet.

What to do?

Where to stay?

We stayed at the Room mate Macarena hotel, and I can only recommend this hotel. The location is really perfect. The hotel is located on the Gran via, in the middle of the shopping street and between restaurants, within walking distance of all must visit places. We took a room upgrade on the spot, and so we ended up in the Junior suite. The interior is beautiful and the beds are really wonderful! The hotel has a breakfast room, reception, and a rooftop swimming pool and rooftop bar.

Where to eat?

- Habanera is a beautiful restaurant where you can enjoy brunch, lunch and dinner. Brunch in particular seems to be very popular there. We went for a single dish, but you can also order a full brunch/breakfast. The interior is incredibly beautiful and every corner seems to come straight from Pinterest.

- Chocolateria San Gines is a must if you go to Madrid. They have been serving mainly chocolate con churros here since 1894 and they are really delicious!

- Villa Capri is the place to be if you like Italian food and truffle. The interior is super kitsch but really super cozy. It is best to book a table here up front if you want to go here. We made a reservation two weeks in advance. Recommended: the truffle pasta!

 - Amargo place to be is my absolute favorite. Eating here is quite an experience. From the outside this looks like a very simple bar, but when you go to the restaurant downstairs, the interior is a real eye-catcher. It is absolutely not expensive here and the food is super tasty!

- Eat my trip is really a hidden gem. This is the place to be for a delicious breakfast or brunch. They have savory dishes but also the tastiest pancakes if you like sweet!

- What to do?

- Parque del retiro is also a must visit when you are in Madrid. It really is a beautiful park with lots to do. You can sail here with a boat for only €6 for 45min. Palacio de Cristal can also be found in the park. From time to time you can also find exhibitions here.

Sky bar 360°
is also highly recommended. Here you have a beautiful view over Madrid. You also have a glass 'bridge' that you can walk over. There can sometimes be long queues here and you also have to pay an entrance fee to go up.
